YONKERS: Sixth District Councilmember Anthony Merante’s campaign mantra has been and continues to be “It’s All About You.”
He is a life long resident of Yonkers, says he prides himself on his responsiveness to his constituents needs.
Anthony Merante often says, “I take the title of public servant very seriously. You pay your taxes; you are the customer and are entitled to excellent service. I’m always here to listen and help with any issues my constituents may have.”
He has a long history of involvement in neighborhood groups, including seven years as president of the Sprain Lake Knolls Civic Association.
He also supported the Stop UPS protesters in their fight against UPS expansion at 555 Tuckahoe Road.
Anthony Merante has been a Certified Public Accountant since 198& and is also the Co-Owner and Vice-President, Westchester Kitchen & Bath, Inc. and Four Paws Dog Grooming
He once initiated and passed legislation to put the word Christmas back on all official City of Yonkers tree lightings.
He is married 36 years to Yolanda and has two children, Anthony Jr. 26, Gianna 20 – and all of his children attended Yonkers Public Schools.
Anthony Merante will most likely face off against former Yonkers Police Department Deputy Chief Tim Hodges, a democrat, in the 6th District.
Tim Hodges has been endorsed by the Yonkers Democratic committee, but is facing a democratic primary against Stella Schwuchow on June 23rd
